• with this update to 2.7.6 you’ll need:
    – one extra-plugin to select the button color,
    – one extra plugin to put the download counter,
    – do some kind of operation to “migrate” all the downloads otherwise they will be gone,
    – change the shortcode on all the pages
I’m sorry, it’s too late for me because I already did the upgrade, but I will switch to some other plugin, or recover my website from a backup…

  • I am on the same boat. I updated my plugin because I saw a “security warning” mensage at Admin section. Bad mistake.

I have to fix 100+ links manually 2x, because I need to fix the shortcode and the ADF link. Its just a nightmare.

The good news is: you can download the old and perfect version prior this bad (in my point of view) update 2.6.96 – https://wordpress.org/plugins/download-manager/developers/

thanks for the suggestion, but I’m afraid I can’t, unless I rollback the database too, I did the “migration” on the downloads already which – as I understand it – is a one-way only operation. and I don’t want to rollback the DB as many things have occurred on posts in the meantime. I’m afraid I’m stuck with this (unwanted) “upgrade”.

BTW: in my place an “upgrade” is a step forward, something that adds and improves functionalities, not something that takes away features…

@pierinux, you don’t have to rollback database even though you did the migration. Old data still intact. Just download old version from here https://wordpress.org/plugins/download-manager/developers/ , delete current installation and install v2.6.9 .

And v2.7.5 actually didn’t take away any feature, moreover v2.7 has many more features than v2.6. However I understand your anger ( because you had to work for an hour to migrate data ), but please try to understand, we worked many 100s of hours on this plugin to make it better. No offense, but an update you may not like or understand it but certainly comes to make the plugin better.
