• Greeetings all,

After upgrading to 2.2 from 2.13, I discovered that my blogroll/etc sidebar had decided to move to the bottom of the page, below all my posts.

Understandably concerned by this unexpected development, I proceeded to run around like a chicken with its head cut off for a while.

Poking and prodding my wordpress install, I decided to change the posts displayed from 20 posts to just five.

So the sidebar now displays OK, but I am limited to just five posts to the page, which really kinda sucks.

here’s a clue maybe some uber hacker can use: I added a post saying “blog broken, men at work”, and then deleted it later. Somehow that deleted post is still being counted — now I have had to decrease the number of posts shown to just *four* so that the sidebar works OK.

I hope you’ll agree this really isn’t a super state of affairs. Most appreciative of any suggestions.

    thanks, s

this strikes me as a very serious upgrade bug. Is there anyone out there with an idea of what is causing this problem?

It has nothing to do with the number of posts displayed on a page.
While your main page is OK now, click on the previous posts link at the bottom… and you will see that you have a badly formatted post – copy/paste from Word or something like that?

Delete/edit that post and you should be OK even with 22 posts 🙂

hi moshu, thanks for the reply.

I guess I didn’t make it clear, before the upgrade everything displayed fine, and I have added no new posts since that time.

Second, as a Linux geek I don’t use Microsoft Word, and I compose all my posts in the code tab, I don’t like the extra html odds and sods wordpress tends to add to my text.

I have pushed the page through the W3C validator, but I am not sufficiently familiar with the wordpress guts to know where to find the bits and pieces it says are not fully html compliant.

since, as I said, I have added nothing as far as posts go since several days before the upgrade to 2.2, I think it is reasonable to rule out the possibility of a stray “copy and paste” tag.

    any more ideas???

    thanks!

Don’t ask for “more ideas” before checking out what you were told!

    moshu,

then how come that post looked fine for more than month under the older version, and only broke after I upgraded to 2.2?
