Disable Single Event Page

Hi there, I know this question has been asked million times but I just can’t manage to figure it out.
I am trying to “disable” the link to the single event page in the month/day/week calendar views but it’s not working.
For example, for the month view, I copied the template file, created a new one in my themes folder as described on your forum, I’ve removed the a href wrapper and saved it but the title of the event on the month view is still clickable and leads to the event page.
So I hope I’m not so hard to understand, what I want is just to be able to hover over the event and see the description and the image. No clickable titles redirecting to the event page.
