Directory Permissions Question

    I have two options regarding permissions to the uploads directory:

    Directory permissions 777 under FTP account owner/group – Files write as 644 as apache owner/group

    Directory permissions 775 under Apache account owner/group – Files write as 644 as apache owner/group

    I wish I had other options, but the uploads directory is not writeable through wordpress any other way (shared platform). Flipping the permissions back and forth may be cumbersome as multiple users will be uploading at various times.

    Is either option more secure or is it essentially the same thing as I thought I read that apache is really treated as anyone?
