Directory help

Hi,
I am looking to create a directory on my blog/website. I had installed the Business Directory for WordPress plugin but I need something that is sortable by category and a little more powerful. I found an example that I really like and am wondering if this is a plugin or if it is a simple matter of writing the code.

The directory that I want to emulate to a certain extent is weddings.ca

It has all the categories on the left hand side and when one is clicked it breaks it down further with the matches within each certain location at the top of the page.
