    Hello,

I’m not sure this is an error, but as I am not very techy, I thought I’d ask before I proceed, just in case.

After updating the plugin to the latest version, I now get this message: “There is still a sitemap.xml or sitemap.xml.gz file in your blog directory. Please delete them as no static files are used anymore or try to delete them automatically.”

If I delete the files automatically, will I have to resubmit my sitemap to google websmasters tool? The site I have currently submitted is mydomainname.com/sitemap.xml. Or will that still work even if I delete those files?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I noticed a tremendous slowing in the process of submitting the sitemap since the last update.

I also found that message e and deleted them automatically. Will it now work fine or is there something else to do?

    I have the same issue.

And after I delete the old sitemap like it tells me, the new one it generates is all weird.

The old one correctly listed the pages on my site:

    domain.com/post1
    domain.com/post2
    domain.com/post3
    etc.

THe new one just links to more .xml files:

    domain.com/sitemap-pt-post-2014-01.xml
    domain.com/sitemap-pt-post-2014-02.xml
    etc.

And then when I click on those I get taken to another xml file tht links to the actual post.

That seems like it’s not genetating it correctly.

    Hello,

With V.4.0.3 i have again the same pb…

    Hi,

the new version 4 of the plugin does not use static files anymore, but generates them on-the-fly like all the other WordPress content. That means you can’t see the sitemap.xml file with your FTP program anymore. If there is one, you should rename or delete it, so the plugin can serve the dynamically generated file. You don’t need to do anything in Google Webmaster Tools.

In the new sitemap, you will not see your posts immediately, but links to sub-sitemaps which contain the content based on type (posts, categories etc…) and date (year/month).

    @ Arnee

On Webmaster Tool no update sitemap… Automatic download dates back to April 16…
