• I created a downloadable file and have uploaded it my new hosting server and am attempting to decrypt it and restore it. The following error occurs:
The backup could not be decrypted; the following error was encountered during decryption: Partially read 4259796 of 8388608 bytes from encrypted data file for decryption.

    What are my options?

    Hi charlenamiller,

    The file is likely incomplete.

If you are just moving servers, it may be easier to not use encryption. If you’re backing up online, you can temporarily disconnect on Online Backup Settings so you can modify encryption to None (but make sure you write down what was there so you can reconnect it). Then once you’ve got your unencrypted backup, connect to Online Backup Settings and reconnect, and it will ask for the encryption details that were previously used.

If you need that file, it’s likely not usable. When you get a downloadable backup, check what size it is on the server. If the size is say, 150MB, and you download it, and the downloaded file is only 120MB, then it’s not downloaded properly. It’s an issue we see frequently with large backups where the server can’t send it all over in time, something we’re working on fixing in the next version.

    Regards,

    Jason
