thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.
Yeah, debugging the Auto Import Extension is a little bit hard. It does not use its own crons, but use the WordPress Cron API (see http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2013/10/16/schedule-events-using-wordpress-cron/ for examples).
The best way to find out more here is to take a look at the error log on the server, and check that for error messages that happen around the time when the cron jobs run.
