• Hi all,

I’m upgrading from 2.0.4 to 2.1 and have so far followed the instructions to the letter.

Everything that needs installing is installed, and I am getting the basic theme back with a search field in the main body section (no posts, no meta, no blogroll etc)

In the sidebar, this error message appeared:

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ” at line 1]

    And below that:
    00 SELECT cat_id
    01 cat_name FROM

If I try running the upgrade, I get the following error:

    Not Found
The requested URL /wp-admin/upgrade.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Now I went back through and checked the server MySQL and php versions and all are above the required, I have had a good look through the files and as far as I can tell I deleted everything that needed deleting and installed everything that needed installing.

Can someone give me a hand?

  • Hm. Just for starters, the upgrade.php file has to be run, but it sounds like it’s missing:

The requested URL /wp-admin/upgrade.php was not found on this server.

You’ll need to access that in order to upgrade. Once that’s done, you may also have to regenerate your .htaccess file through the control panel.

Where can I find a copy of that file, and where do I put it when I have it? Straight in the main directory?

I have looked through my back up and it doesn’t seem to have been there, and it is not in the package I downloaded.

Right, Never mind, We have INSTALL :):) (this is why not to upgrade at 4am while half asleep *sigh*)

It is still displaying the DB error though.
