Database features seem limited…

    Okay! i’ve created a database under the hosting agency’s control panel. That’s OneandOne (1&1) here in the UK.

    Once created, the Database is listed with an option to administrate via MyPHPAdmin.

    So if i select this option, the OneAndOne PHPAdmin panel opens up. This allows me to select the database i’ve created in order to administer it.

    But, once selected, the database only offers the following options: Structure, SQL, Search, Query, Export, and Operations.

    Of these, only Structure, SQL and Operations are accessible. None of these allow the creation of a user for the Database. There is nowhere else within this Admin area which allows access to Database user creation.

    Could anyone advise on what i’m missing here? I’ve tried getting in touch with 1&1 – but as i find is often the case with the support contact telephone number they supply, it’s a fifteen minute wait on the 08 number, which i’d like to try and bypass having to get through if at all possible.

    Try looking in the 1&1 MySQL/database documentation.

    On a previous host the user was pre-set, and on another host I had to create users via a different host-specific panel and not through phpMyAdmin. As esmi said, check the 1&1 docs.

    I’d be more specific, if I could but it’s been over 18 months since I had the chance to play with a 1&1 site and I can’t quite recall how the db usernames are set up.

    I have tried looking within the one and one frequently asked questions list for this issue or for any data relating to users, yes.

    i’ll need to call these people. They don’t seem to be responding to technical support queries.
