'Customize Theme' doesn't work anymore

    Hi there.

    I haven’t updated my site for like 2 years now so I thought I give it a go again.
    I downloaded a couple of new themes to get inspired and ‘put the on’ to see how they look like right away.

    Now my problem is that ever since I started updating my site again I can’t go and customize my front page the way I always did. It will always get stuck on loading the page.
    I’m talking about the ‘Manage Themes’ -> ‘Customize’ button.

    I always used to have a specific post as my front page, but I want to change that to become just a photo.

    Now I realise it could be a thousand things, but is there anyone that could think out loud and help me find the problem?
    I even don’t mind completely resetting everything I’ve got so far apart from the files that are connected to the ‘Event Manager’. Since I’m a musician I’d like to keep track of the concerts I’ve done in the past.

    Deactivate ALL Plug-ins –> Click on the Customize Page Link

    If customize page still does not load –> Let me know and I will search for another answer, however I am sure that it is a plug-in.

    If customize page does load –> Activate Plug-ins One-by-One, being sure to go to the customize page after re-activating each one. This should tell you which plug-in is causing this as the customize page will infamously never load once again. More than likely since it has been so long, one of the plug-ins you are using has probably not been updated for years and is not supported or causing some bug that is messing your page up. Just be 100% sure that you are going to the customize page each time you re-activate a plug-in, it will take a while if you have a lot, but it is the only true way to really know.

    Unfortunately that’s not it. I already tried to reach the customize page when deactivating all plugins, but even then it doesn’t seem to work.
    But I just found out I can actually acces the customize page of my old theme now. So I suppose the problem is related to the theme I’m using…

    That’s interesting, has it been a while since that theme you were using was updated?

    Nope. I just downloaded it and it was one of the ‘recently updated’ ones.
    I googled it and found the theme on their own site: http://raratheme.com/wordpress-themes/the-minimal/

    I’ll just ask the theme makers if it could be a problem caused by their own theme.

    Hmm… I start to get the feeling it’s something that has to do with the TimThumb script.
    I just started adding a few events again with the event manager plugin and after creating my 3rd new event the site (both the real one and the admin page) became unavailable due to an error.
    I’ve been using the updated version of the plugin. 🙁

    I’m really, really, really clueless at this point on what to do.
    Every time I try to update my site a bit something goes wrong and I can’t enter the admin page anymore…
    I keep going back to see the files on my hosting service, but this time I just don’t know what to delete/move…
    I just want my site to work again like it always did for the past 4 years.

    I never did any new things to it apart from just updating wordpress and updating the plugins once in a while…

    Hi I changed from WP.com to WP.org. I can’t change my theme. It doesn’t give me options for changing anything. It’s like the ‘customize’ is frozen. I uploaded images and the image that is frozen on my home page needs to be changed. thank you
