Custom post types/table

I have a website regarding the history of a hockey team. I have created a custom post type called players as well as a template players.php
My players cpt has custom fields that I can enter info on players such as name, position, age etc.
I am having an issue after I enter the player info on the player where I can’t save it.
I also want the info I enter to show up in a table on my sites front end.
Looking for guidance on this. New to cpt as well as php
Any help appreciated
