Custom post message – custom field?

Hi all

I love this plugin but I can’t wrap my head around a viable solution for my problem.

I’d like authors to be able to enter a custom short message to be posted as the message before the article link on Facebook and Twitter. So far, I’ve used the Excerpt-Field and included it via %EXCERPT%. The problem is that then, the excerpt shown in the link box on the FB-Post unter the Title and Image is exactly the same as the FB message accompanying it.

Can I use a simple style of custom fields to achieve that the post text is not the same as the excerpt? The WP core custom fields function seems very clumsy to me, especially for my technically inexperienced authors.

Any hints and tips?
