Custom plugin – generate / output xml page

any help on where to start. i’d like this page to be readable by a flash widget to pull out xml formatted information (so no is_user checks). i can accomplish with $link=… mysql_select_db , but would like to do it using all wp functions and just can’t find where / how to accomplish generating an actual page that my widget can read. any help would be greatly appreciated.
