Custom hidden profile field dynamically filled

Hi there,

i am working with custom profile fields for the first time and running in to some problems.

I created a function that holds a variable for the user. It gets the number of posts for the author and the number of votes the author has made in total (using wp-postratings for the votes).

On the author page i can use the function by using the variable $curauth-> and the data i need.

On the profile page i tried to use $user-> but i do not get the values i was hoping to get. Is there another variable i need to get the data on the profile page?
