Does anyone know how to ad a custom ‘comment’ field. NOT a custom ‘post’ field. Is there a plugin that can be used or some simple code that allows extra pieces of data in the comments field?

Looks like 2.9 will add the infrastructure for custom fields for comments. http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2659
