Thanks Esmi. Where do I enter this?
In Permalink Settings, there is a section called Common Settings with an option to put in a custom structure, and there is a section called Optional where one can enter a Category Base and a Tag Base.
I’m using the Twenty Ten theme.
Use one of the common settings – “Month and name” is a pretty good one to go for.
I am a new user. I might be in the wrong thread. Sorry. I’m trying to figure out how to make a static home page. I went to the link you posted but am unfamiliar with a whole bunch of the terms the writer used.
Following the directions as far as I could do, I ended up with 2 tabs on top that now say “home.”
How do you make the correct “home” be the default one and get rid of the other one?
I now have a tab called “blog” that is showing up on top, even though I don’t want it there. I created it as part of the instructions.
I found “Permalinks” but don’t know how to enable it to show the page title in the address. Just saying “enable it” isn’t helpful to someone who doesn’t know how to do this.
And the section of the instructions that begins with:
is_front_page () is totally unintelligible.
Where can I go to get clear, step by step instructions about how to make a static home page and how to get rid of the 2nd tab called “home page,” and how to get rid of the tag that says “blog?” This appears to be quite complicated. I hope you can make it more clear for a novice.
Thank you.

I’d like to know how to do this with Twenty Ten too!
