Create Simple Video Gallery Template

Hi! Posted this in How to and Troubleshooting, but got no response. It’s either just a stupid question, or was posted in the wrong category:

I want to create a video or image gallery template that outputs a one column page with minimal margins (a wide page), and a three or four column, multiple row table with placeholder text.

I can get the wide, one column effect, but I CANNOT get my template to display the table with placeholder text. Well, yes, it displays, after I publish, but it does not appear in the Visual or Text tab of the “Add New Page” page. Is this just not possible?

Can anyone help? I suspect it has something to do with the “loop,” but I confess I am out of my element when people start talking about the loop.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
