Thank you for reaching out. MasterStudy has a feature called Prerequisites that allows you to set requirements that students must complete before they can enroll in higher-level courses. This could be used to mark compulsory courses in your system. You can find more information about this feature here: Prerequisites in MasterStudy. Please note that this feature is available only in the paid version of MasterStudy.

Regarding collecting information, you can add custom fields to the registration form through the LMS Form Editor, which is also available only in the paid version of MasterStudy. Alternatively, you could create a custom page with your own form.
If you want to automate the collection of information, you can integrate it with SureTriggers plugin, which has integration with the MasterStudy Pro add-ons. You can find more details about SureTriggers here: SureTriggers Integration.
