Correct filing for WordPress with DreamHost

Hello, Am trying to transfer WP from MAMP to DreamHost. Since uploading WP, the site has run very very slowly or timed out altogether.

Could it be a MySQL DB problem…? or some filing problem based on my total lack of knowledge about these things…?
