Converting free wordpress to WordPress (Version 3.5.2)

    I have a blog on free wordpress “www.socialmediawiseblog.wordpress.com”..
    I have 5 followers for it.. If i change it to a new domain to socialmediaw.com and install wordpress version 3.5.2… will i lose my followers??

    how will my followers come to know the URL has changed??

    will my blog link will be redirected to new URL – socialmediaw.com??
