• I just installed the latest version of WordPress (3.3.1) because I was having some trouble with categories updating, and for a while I thought that the update had fixed things, but I am still having problems. Basically, I have category archives for each different section of content — I choose the category when I create a post, and then that post is automatically pulled into each category.

If I look at my site (http://www.emandlo.com) when I am logged into the wordpress admin, all of the categories look fine, with the latest content showing up. But if I am not logged into the admin — i.e. this is how all the readers see the site — then the categories aren’t updating properly… some categories haven’t updated for a few days, and some categories haven’t updated for a few weeks.

As far as I know, the category problem started happening a bit at the beginning of January (i.e. just in one category), then when I updated to the new WordPress about a week ago (hoping to fix the problem), it started happening across the whole site.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Check your caching plugin. If it is WP Super Cache it has a setting to show cached pages to unknown users and uncached pages to known users. So if you are logged in it will show fine, not logged in it will show cached page.
