Thanks for the help, but that doesnt apply to me as I have outlook in windows as my default and on my Linux box I have Evolution as the default. Also On my work machine (Winxp) I have Outlook. In all three they go to gmail. So its something in wordpress causing this.
In anything else it pops up the right default email client.
dont standard mailto links open the way the user has them set up ? I fail to see where anything in the wordpress core would change that.
When you hover over the Contact button, does the URL (usually lower left on the browser window, you may have to turn this on) preview say “mailto:…” ?
If so, whooami is correct. The PC’s default email client is what will open up, whether it’s Gmail, Outlook or Apple’s Mail.app.
It’s a client machine thing and you can thank the dillweeds at Goggle for it. I’ll lay a million buck$ you have Google Toolbar installed… Yep, that’s what I thought…
Uninstall it and see if your mailto works as normal. There may be a setting in the toolbar options where you can change it, but I uninstalled mine because with every new version of Goggle ‘Whatever’, they’re getting more intrusive and screwing up a decent product(what the heck did they do with the Highlight tool???)…
It’s really sad seeing Goggle evolve into the company they go out of their way to not emulate (at least within the user community).
