    Hi there.
I’ve been using the Mailchimp for WordPress plugin for a long time without issues.
However the forms on the site started giving the “oops there was an error..” message.
I looked at the plugin setting page and status is “Disconnected”.
I haven’t changed anything on the site that should cause this.
If I embed the Mailchimp form directly on the page, it works fine.

Can you please help me with this?
    thanks

    Hello Vedat,

Can you please check our article on connection issue at https://kb.mc4wp.com/solving-connectivity-issues/ and try few of the debugging steps?

First, step is always to create a new API key and test if it works.

Hi Harish, thanks for quick response.
I contacted the server company (servage), and they said that the Curl version is 7.26.0. They are not able to change this unfortunately.

I also created a new API number, same result.

My thinking is, if the cURL were an issue, then the plugin wouldn’t have worked from the get go.

Should I upgrade WP and/or the plugin do you think?
I am afraid upgrading WP will create other issues with plugins though..

When you click “connect” is there any error visible on the screen besides “oops there was an error..”.

E.g.: what is the full error message? Or is that all it reads?

    Hi Lap,
When you say “connect”, do you mean in the plugin settings page in my WP?
If so, I do not have a button that says “connect”.
    Only “Unconnected”, message.
“oops there was an error..” comes on the form on the site when signing up.
    thanks

    I’m sorry, you’re totally right.

Instead of the connect button I mean when you click “Save Changes” on the MailChimp page of the plugin..?

And after saving if you click Renew MailChimp lists on the same page?

    (@vedatk)

    Hi Lap,
When I hit the save changes, I have “Mailchimp Error:” But the space where the error wording should be is blank.
I also get the license expired warning but I used to get that anyway.

I don’t see a “renew Mailchimp lists” button. Where should that be?

Hi, I’m having the exact same error. replaced the API key with a new one and the problem remains.

You are on an expired Premium license?
What version of Premium are you at?

    I have 2.4.6 Pro.
    Should I update it?

    Plugin Contributor Lap

    (@lapzor)

Yes, that is a VERY old version. MailChimp has since updated their API and is now disabling their old API.

OK, I have paid and updated to the latest. Now I can’t see the settings page.
Do I now turn around and update WP?
I am reluctant to do that in case it breaks things..

What version are you on now?

Since the version gap is so big, you might need to know that for the current version you need to have the free core plugin (MailChimp for WordPress) installed as well as the Premium add-on.

You can get the free core plugin from the WordPress plugin repository.

    Hope that helps!

    Kind regards,

OK, now updated to latest WP, and latest version of the plugin, including the core plugin.
    Still no dice.
Created new API key, but when hitting save, I get Mailchimp error: Service Unavailable.
By the “Renew Mailchimp Lists” button, I see the text in green that reads “Done! MailChimp lists renewed.” but underneath it reads “No lists were found in your MailChimp account.”

I need to get this going for an upcoming promotion, what else do you recommend I do?

Hi guys, I’ve reached the support team on MailChimp and they found out that my account wasn’t accessing the API. Don’t know the details, but definitely was on their side. They fixed it and now everything works.
