Confused with templates

Typically, a template like page.php will use a content template pulled in through get_template_part() — https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/get_template_part/ — to render parts of the page or post. The idea is that the content-*.php files are usable in a number of contexts and keeps you from adding the same code to multiple template files.
