After a hack I reinstalled wp and created a new d/b. I uploaded the files and folders to cPanel from a backup and can see them all in File Manager. I changed the config file DB_NAME, USER & PASSWORD to the new d/b details but it just shows the fresh installation homepage. I also did a test post on the new site and searched each of the databases for the new installation with the new test post and can’t see it on any of the d/b’s. It’s as if the new installation is populated from a d/b not on my list. I’m clearly missing something so any help would be appreciated.

The site in question is http://www.ardohouse.com

  • Check the database details in your wp-config.php file.

You need check your wp-config.php file see which database is used.
There has to be database there for your site to open.

The wp-config.php has the database, user and password information for the new database, and the new database in phpMyAdmin contains all the tables from the backup, so I’m not sure why it isn’t showing on the site.

did you change the prefix in any way in your original database that you imported.

Hi Govpatel. No I didn’t change the prefix. I originally did an overwrite of the existing installation. I’ve now had the original WP installation deleted and installed a fresh version so I’ll ftp the files and d/b over and see if that works.

Is best to not reinstall wordpress if you run in problems you can replace all files and folders except wp-content folder as this where you have all your themes, plugins, uploads and wp-config.file.
