    Hello there KitschDesign,

WP-SpamShield will protect your site from spam on the following:

    • Comments
    • Trackbacks & Pingbacks
    • Contact Forms – To enable this, users need to use WP-SpamShield’s built-in contact form. It does not protect contact forms from other plugins.
    • User Registration Spam – This protects WordPress’s default registration page (wp-login.php?action=register).

There’s already a support thread about WP-Members if you would like to check that out.

WP-SpamShield can’t stop registration spam if another plugin bypasses WordPress’ native registration system, which it looks like WP-Members does (based on the description on its page – I haven’t tested it or examined the code).

WordPress plugins work because it has a system of hooks that plugins can use to modify functionality. Unfortunately if a plugin takes over a certain type of functionality (like the login process), then other plugins have no way of interacting with it anymore, so in this case there’s not much that can be done.

I haven’t tested Events Manager, but based on its description, I’m guessing it will be the same situation as WP-Members.

MailChimp’s embedded code is outside the scope of the above mentioned anti-spam categories, so it will not protect that.

I hope that helps answer your questions. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

    Hi KitschDesign,

I just wanted to follow up with you. As of version 1.8.9.9, WP-SpamShield has 100% compatibility and anti-spam protection for the WP-Members registration page.

    Have a good one.

    Tnx for the follow up!

How about the plugin MailChimp for WordPress Lite?

You’re welcome! Yes, it does work with the Mailchimp plugin! 🙂

We didn’t add code specifically for Mailchimp, but we developed code that works for most forms on a WordPress site, and it works very well with Mailchimp to prevent spam. It happens automatically without you having to do anything. Just activate WP-SpamShield.
