• Hey, guys.

    Problem:
I see no comment box for anyone to write comments through.

    Solutions I’ve tried:
    1. Settings -> Discussion… I’ve made sure all my settings allow for comments. No luck there.

    2. Both post and page -> Selected the page my blog posts are on and my blog posts themselves -> Bulk Edit -> Allowed for comments.

No luck still. I can’t figure out why I can’t get the comment box to show up πŸ™

Thanks in advance for your help. Sorry if this has been posted before. I tried doing searches but couldn’t find anything that wasn’t the above.

  • go to add or edit post in dashboard
at top right of page, click on Screen Options
    tick Discussion box
    scroll to bottom of page
you can now enable comments or not on any post or page

… weird. I just applied that to both the page where the actual blog posts go and the specific blog posts, and it still shows up blank πŸ™

They were unticked, though. Might be slowly working towards a solution..?

Edit: Also, I can’t seem to click to any specific post from the blog page… I have to know the url or hit View Page from the dashboard to see any specific blog post :S

what do you have set up in
    dashboard – settings – reading

Here’s the image of the actual settings:

Edit: Also… for some reason, WordPress is saying I am a consultant and make my living off of all this and stuff o.o… I’m gonna go get that fixed. Please don’t hurt me!

ok – to do that you have to set a static front page

    comments should then work, also

I already had a static front page set… I just had it blank titled so it wouldn’t have any obstructive text in it.

Either way, I tested it with a proper text just in case something was still messing up and set it in the front page section in the Reading settings… still no go. No comments are coming up.

    Here’s my site for reference:

Edit: Just to add, I double checked and made sure the discussion/writing/etc settings were still applied in case something reset since then. Everything is OK on that end :S Not sure what’s wrong.

something is definitely screwy as the blog posts in sidebar show link without /blog

    try re-saving your permalinks
    dashboard – settings – permalinks

also, I’m gone for the night but will check this topic in morn.

I just had default selected… for some reason, when I choose anything else, it makes the entire website save for the homepage 404 when I click around… For example, idiivil.com/blog breaks… idiivil.com/bio breaks… etc etc etc. Maybe a hint to what’s going wrong?

It’s like I HAVE to use default.

Either way, here’s my current setting (the only one that works – even the others they offer break):

… thanks for your help so far, Samuel B.

    any progress on this?

So… the account I was using apparently doesn’t exist anymore. I don’t get it.

    Anyways, no progress.

I was going to suggest you add comment posting to your site, but that was before I saw this post.
I can’t help you with this, except to suggest you check with the theme developer.

Hey, You are using the “shaken-grid-free-3” theme right? I am using the same theme and it seems this theme doesn’t support comments :-/
I am dying to find a way to enable comments for this theme, please let me know if you find any way…i’ll do the same. taa!
