Hey all, how would I be able to color code categories? Do I need to create a full-blown custom template or is there an easier way to do so?

my advice is that you can create an add-on to the EM which will handle your needs! please refer to the docs like in this URL http://wp-events-plugin.com/tutorials/creating-a-events-manager-add-on-a-complete-walkthrough/
