• When I am making changes to my website, I can see the changes in the live editor view…but when I view the page in a new tab or visit the website the changes are not seen. I always make sure I have saved/updated before viewing so it’s not that.

I have been clearing the cache and cookies and all that stuff…sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. And it doesn’t matter if I am on the laptop, the ipad or my iphone, if it gets into one of these funks clearing the cache on any device doesn’t help it.

Is there anything else I can do?

Also, I tried viewing the website in a different browser (Safari as opposed to Google) and Safari didn’t show the changes either.

  • Hello there,

There might be server-side caching applies on your hosting service. Please verify this with your web hosting support department.

I tried viewing my site on someone else’s computer and it came up with all the current changes.

Do you think that this is still a web hosting issue?

I think I fixed the problem.
I went to my host area on my dashboard under their “performance” tab and disabled the “page cache” and “browser cache”. It looks like all the current changes are now reflected on my computer and devices.

    One more question though…

Will selecting “disable” on these host cache spots cause any issues with my website?

Your site will run normally. But its performance might be lowered. To learn more about why caching benefits you, please read this codex. Note that it doesn’t relate with the theme.

    Thanks for the info.

Do you think it would be alright if I disabled while editing my site and then enable when I am done?

Yes, it should be worth it to do.

Okay. I am going to see what happens here, because at the beginning of the day having the cache saving disabled seemed to work…and now at the end of the day it’s not working…nor is clearing the cache on my desktop.

Another question about this: does it sometimes just take a long time for changes to show up on the actual site? Is that just a “normal” part of editing a site? Or should I be seeing the changes when I refresh the page no matter what?
