Child theme changes not sticking

I’m new to wp so I apologize if this is an obvious question. I’ve been making changes to the child theme I created for the template I’m using and I’ve been re-thinking some of the changes I’ve made. I’ve gone back in, removed the coding associated with the change I want, and then hit “update file” but the changes aren’t appearing on my blog. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make the changes stick?
