Checkboxes

I have tried to add a checkbox field and it doesn’t seem to be updating. I added the API field name, selected checkbox, typed a label, then saved. It didn’t update the field in salesforce. I went back and added a Value of True for that field and still didn’t work. Any tricks for using checkbox fields?
