Changing to a wordpress site

    Hi guys,
    I’ve built a wordpress site for a friend to replace his current one.
    The current site is built through my1and1 and their website builder package.
    The plan is to get rid of the site currently in place, move the hosting to hostgator, and migrate the new site from my localserver which it was built in, to the new hosting server.
    I’m worried about making a mistake, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
