• I’ve downloaded themes to my computer, but I don’t know how to get them to show up on my blog, therefore, I can’t change themes other than the two that are already loaded. If anyone can help in layman’s terms, I’d appreciate it. I have these downloaded themes on my desktop in zip files.

  • go to appearance->themes from your menu

there will be two tabs, manage themes, and install themes

    go to install themes

under those two tabs, more options will appear, select upload

then you upload your theme and activate it

I don’t have the install themes tab. That’s part of my dilemma.

Do you have wordpress.com? If you have, you can¨t install a new theme. But you can change themes to those who are available.

I have two themes from which to choose. I believe I have wordpress.com. What else would I have? Is there a difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org?

Following up with that, I think I’m using wordpress.org.

If you have wordpress.com, you can only choose from the available themes. If you have wordpress.org, you can uploaded other themes.
Apperance – themes – you will see your current theme, and on the meny on the top of this page: install themes – upload.

Tried that. That’s where we’re stuck. Need to get my tech support guys to help because I have no access to cPanel.

There is no cPanel in WordPress,

When you logon to your website address do you use the wp-admin?

    Example:
    http:/www.your-wordpress-site.com/wp-admin/

Then in the admin do you see on the left, Appearance > Install Themes, if not what do you see?

You will not see the menus if you are not the administrator, or in a sub domain of a multi-site install.

So did you install the blog or did someone else?

If it was installed for you ask the person that installed it for the WordPress super-admin name and password.

I think you are on to the problem. No, I didn’t do the initial installation. Thanks. I’ll try this angle.

I only see under appearance, themes. There is no install themes.

Select themes and you should see the Install, Upload or Add New.
