Changing the layout

Hi I have been using the same template for all my websites but now I need to know how I can change the dimensions of certain parts of my websites? For example how would I make the sidebar or footer bigger or smaller? Is there any way of doing this without knowing code?

For example with dreamweaver you could just use the editor to make sections bigger or smaller but there appears to be no editor on wordpress?
