The image saved on your computer would ( I assume) be the source file, so why not use that? Whether or not you have permission to use the image is another subject entirely. 🙂
When I plug in the name of the image, and then view it on the site, it just shows the name that I plugged in and not the actual image.
You have to actually upload the image via WordPress first.
I tried what was said and its not exactly what I need. I would like to upload the picture to my static homepage. Just inserting the image will put it in a post not replace the featured image, which is what I am trying to do. There is a place under appearance -> theme options -> home page -> featured content, that I can plug in the image source that will change the featured image, but I am just not sure what to plug in.

That’s because you have to upload the image via WordPress and then use the Set featured image functionality.
Try clicking on the Set featured image link when editing your static home page.
no still not it…not sure what to do now?
Have you uploaded the image via WordPress yet?
Now edit your static home page and click on the Set featured image link.
Okay that does work but only If I don’t have the custom front page enabled, but I need it enabled in order to get the homepage I would like.
Okay, I figured it out. It was a mixture of what you said and finding the source code. Thank you for your help.
