I tried that, but I’m still greeted with the following error message:
blockquoteWe’re having a little trouble selecting the proper database for WordPress.
* Are you sure it exists?
* Your database name is currently specified as rodvinge_com. Is this correct?
* On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?/blockquote

Alright, I tried that and still no go. I’m going to shoot my webhost an email tomorrow asking them to rename the database back to ‘rodvinge_com’, since I do not have permission to do so via phpMyAdmin. Hopefully I’ll figure out a fix in the mean time.

Gosh, NuclearMoose, what an absurd suggestion. Anyone who would do that would be a complete ninny. I mean, the very thought of changing it locally, and then forgetting to upload…
*checks*
Oh my, would you look at that…
Well, then! Thanks NuclearMoose, you’ve been most helpful. 🙂

I tried anything you might have thought of. Just can not get a namechanged database working.
Here is some info might be helpful to know.

One more thing, I even tried to let WP regenerate a new database with the name I wanted and over-write that new one. BAD TRY.
Any suggestion?
MySQL 5.1 enhancements, the RENAME DATABASE statement.
You will have to wait and change you DB name when 5.1 is available.
