Changing Blogera’s CSS

I wanted to change the color of the site wrapper and remove the side bar so the content will go all the way across. I went in the CSS and change the site wrapper color from white. I also change col-8’s width from 66& to 90% (this holds the content) and col-4 from 33& to 10% (this is where the side bar was). However, none of the changes I made in the editor are showing up even after I updated the files. I went back and started changed a few of my colors to green just to see if it would show up and still nothing happened. Am I in the wrong place? Is there something else I need to do? Or is the problem something else entirely?
