    Hello all,

Long time reader first time poster πŸ˜‰

Sorry to ask this question as I am not lazy; I think I am just over looking something and would like an explanation if possible.

I have created a theme, based off another theme.

So let’s say my original theme was called “original_theme”. Let’s call the theme I created “new_theme”.

Inside wp-content/themes/ I know have 2 themes, original and new.

I went into new and changed the following fields to what I wanted.

    Theme Name:
    Author URI:
    Version:
    Author:
    Description:

Now when I go into my theme manager I have 2 themes (I deleted the defaults).

    My 2 theme’s are

    original_theme
    new_theme

Everything work’s great – however when I delete original theme I no longer have any themes to select.

It’s almost like “new_theme” is still dependent on “original_theme”. Does anyone know where I may have over looked something?

    Thanks in advance
    Dave

  • did you switch to new theme before you deleted the original one? and do you maybe in new_theme link to files of original_theme?

    Thanks for the response.

I was linking to an image in my original_theme that I have now changed.

I just double checked to make sure that I was activating new_theme before removing original_theme. I’m still having the same problem, I guess my next question is am I deleting the theme correctly. As of now I am simply deleting it off the server. I’ll do some searching on it now, but yes i am still having the same problem.

well when you did delete the theme did it show the right them on your page or how did it look like?

No when I deleted the original_theme nothing shows under the appearance tab. It completely breaks the site – there is no theme on the front end.

    Thanks
