Change custom font directory

Is it possible to change the custom font directory to a folder inside my theme?

For example, my-theme/dist/fonts instead wp-content/fonts.

I’m using trellis/bedrock/sage, that has a slightly different directory structure, for develop WP and I can’t modify the WP installation in order to allow WP updates.
