Hi,
We would like some more information.
1. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v12.8? If you update, does the issue resolve?
2. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.3.2? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/.
3. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?
4. Can you provide a link that highlights the issue you are having?

Please check the category title template under
Admin > SEO > Search Appearance > Taxonomies
The default template is %%term_title%% Archives %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%.
If the template is not the default one, does changing it to the default or adding the term title variable to your custom template resolve the issue?
If the template is the default one, please check the title template on the edit category page by clicking the ‘Edit Snippet’ button. Does changing it to the default or adding the term title variable to your custom template resolve the issue?
