Categories are disappearing

Ok, back with more 2.0 trouble.
I’ve had my posts all under three categories up until not long ago when i decided to use some sort of tag system. I deleted the three categories so that all of the posts ever created went under “Uncategorized”. I then created categories with the same name as many of my delicious tags. I then assigned these categories to the posts. The trouble is:
Although I’ve “tagged” plenty of posts with “tags” (ie categories) only two categories show up on the right hand side under the “Categories” section. These are “webdev” and “wordpress”. I have also created and assigned the following categories to posts:

audio cameras composing extensions firefox fun misc music photography rss software webdev wordpress work

But they do not show up at all in the “Categories” section. Also it says I have two posts in “Uncategorized”, which I do not! See here.

Doesn’t seem like it should have anything to do with my earlier 2.0 troubles.
