1) Deactivate ALL plugins.
2) Switch to default 2014 theme.
3) Manually empty your browser cache.
Perform these steps and confirm your editor is working properly.
Once confirmed… begin reactivating your plugins, a couple at a time, going back to see if the editor is continuing to function properly.
Eventually, you should find one plugin that is causing the erratic editor behavior.
I saw those suggestions on a different post and have performed them all to a T. No dice.
Seriously?!
Man, I work in the editor all the time. If you are using no plugins and the 2014 theme… and the editor is not working properly.. then something much deeper is wrong.
You may need to manually update the wp-includes folder.
Are you throwing any errors in your browser console when you load a page with the editor?
update the includes folder? As in replace it by over-writing it?
Yes.
But I’d first check to see if you are throwing any browser errors. Those should tell you/us everything.
hmmm – help me out – what browser errors am I looking for?
Well.. ideally you shouldn’t get any.
Can you show me what you are getting?
You can use Pastebin.com to paste any code over 10 lines long. Then, just include the url to your ‘paste’ here, and I can take a look.
sorry, wasn’t clear. I’m not sure how to check for browser errors. Tell me how to do it, and I’ll do whatever I can to help.
It was in the link I posted above.
Here is a direct link to Browser Debugging in WordPress.
Quickly… you’ll want to open the browser console… reload the page… and watch for errors as the page loads.
