Can’t translate string using .po/.mo files

    Hi, I’ve searched and read a few threads here about translating strings in the plugin, but can’t get it to work.

    I’ve followed instructions here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/credit-card-settings-are-not-translated/
    to get woocommerce-square-fr_CA.mo + woocommerce-square-fr_CA.po files, (fr_CA is my site’s only locale, not using WPML) and duplicate them as woocommerce-plugin-framework-fr_CA.mo + woocommerce-plugin-framework-fr_CA.po.

    But this is not working. The button ‘Place order’ on the checkout page is still in english (and everything else). When loading the page, the button appears in french (I think from the woocommerce plugin, as it was fine before installing Square), but then is changed to ‘Place order’ as the Square payment box is initialized.

    My steps:
    – Install Locotranslate
    – Download .po file for fr here: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/woocommerce-square/
    – Import to Loco. Sync. Move to /wp-content/languages/plugins/
    – Translate ‘Place Order’
    – Duplicate .mo/.po files as woocommerce-plugin-framework
    – Not working.

    Hi,

    I understand that you would like to translate Place Order o the checkout page.

    I found a similar thread that might point you in the right direction, please check: WooCommerce Square plugin change ‘Place Order’ button to multiple languages.

    HI Igor,

    Thanks for the reply. This does seem to be working for the ‘Place order’ button.

    But I would consider this to be kind of a hack, and does not permit me to localise a lot of other strings like a bunch of error messages:

    Credit card number is not valid
    Expiration date is not valid
    CVV is not valid
    Enter a valid card number.

    and the -or- divider between the digital wallet and checkout divs.

    I was able to translate the -OR- and the invalid payments message with LocoTranslate.
