Can't select database
-
My blog has disappeared – when trying to go to the site, WordPress tells me:
Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the db214889896 database.
* Are you sure it exists?
* On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?
If you don’t know how to setup a database you should contact your host. If all else fails you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums. The main site (akademie-rs.de) works fine. That site belongs to a church academy, so I’m not sure I will be able to get (timely) support from anyone there.
I have no idea what could have happened or how I can start to fix this myself.
The site has been around for about five years now. A friend set it up for me (now on vacation, of course…), and I have only ever added or changed content, so I don’t understand the forum posts about MySQL etc., nor do I know where or how to enter “username_wordpress”. Do I have to download the WP package and all that? Would I be able to use my login that I use to add content to get access?
Please help!
Thank you.
