• I have a problem with trying to edit styles within the kubrick theme. Any changes that I make have no effect on the theme. I have tried really basic tasks, such as changing the font, but nothing works. The only action that has had any effect was when I totally deleted the style sheet by accident (not a good look!). Luckily I had copied the file to my text editor and was able to replace it. I am very new to WordPress, but am following directions on the codex and from the Visual quickstart guide to WordPress to no avail.

  • Modifying that theme is not for beginners.
Find another one that’s closer to what you want: http://themes.wordpress.net

Thanks for you help, I realise that modifying themes is tough for someone new to WordPress, however all instructions given in the documentaion imply that some tasks are quite simple -even in the default kubrick theme. Instructions on finding the relevant sections of code and modifying them are clear and simple. However, when I apply the modifications nothing happens. Rather than find a new theme, I would rather begin learning about modifying theme coding by attempting small modifications to my existing theme. Thanks, but I’ll keep trying.

I did not say “modifying themes is tough for someone new to WordPress”.
I said modifying Kubrick is not for beginners. It’s tough even for advanced users.
    But anyway, it’s your choice…

Sorry for any misunderstanding. I’ll try to be more specific.

The instructions that I have to change the Default theme’s header appearance state:
    1. Open style sheet with the Theme Editor or style.css with a text editor.
    2. Scroll down to the h1 and #headrimg.description selectors in the Typography and Colours section.
    3. To modify the appearance of your blog’s name in the header:
-change the size of text by editing the font-size attribute for h1
-change the alignment of text by editing the text-align attribute for h1.

These instructions are on page 132 of the WordPress2 Quickstart Guide.

I have tried both but neither work. If you could help I would be grateful. Meanwhile I will explore some other themes as you suggest.

    Thank you

I came here on search hoping to find out why I cant edit my stylesheets and all I have to say is…

    <sarcasm>Fantastic help there moshu</sarcasm>
