    I have a WordPress.org website – europeanbargee.com
It has 97 “chapters.” I am trying to load Chapter 98 – but it refuses to appear on my website.
I am doing exactly what I did when I created the previous 97 chapters.
I went to ‘Posts,’ ‘Add New,’ and composed it – with text and photos. I then clicked on ‘Publish’ (twice). Then I clicked on ‘View Post.’ It appeared.
I went to ‘Posts’ and ‘Re-Order’ and dragged Chap. 98 to the bottom of the list and clicked on ‘Update.’
I can go to ‘Posts’ and ‘All Posts’ and use the “>” to move to Page 6 to see the post I just created. I can click on ‘Edit’ and make changes to the text then click on ‘Update’ and then to the right of ‘Post Updated’ at the bottom left of the page, I can click on ‘View Post’ and it appears exactly as it should…Although ‘Chap. 98 does not appear in the sidebar with my list of chapters. And it does not appear on my website.

I went to ‘Settings’ and ‘Reading’ to make sure ‘Blog pages shows at most XXX posts’ was set a number greater than 97. It was set to 200. I changed it to 195 – just in case there was a glitch with ‘200’ although it has always been set at the number.

I just tried adding a New Post – ‘Chap. 99 – Test’ and did everything described above – but with just a single line of text and no photos. It would appear on ‘View Post’ but would not load onto my webpage.

Does anyone have any idea why I cannot add more posts even though ‘Settings,’ ‘Reading’. says I should be able to have 195 posts?

My web-hosting site does not have a data limit.

    Thank you.

Hi @europeanbargee, if I’m counting it right, the sidebar has a 100 posts with 97 chapters and 3 other posts (The Beginning – March 2019, 2020 and 2021). To me, from a cursory look, it seems like the sidebar might have a 100 post limit in the theme?

To check further, could you help me with the name of the theme you are using on the site?

The theme is LifeStyle Press. Version 3.1. The copyright at the bottom of my webpage says “Design by Superb.”
I have to “Settings” and “Reading” on the “Dashboard” sidebar. The maximum number of posts is set at 200.
I just changed a recent post to a “Draft.” As soon as I did that, the page that wouldn’t load – did load. So the problem is definitely the number of posts allowed to be shown on the Sidebar of my webpage. It seems to be 98 or 99. (My site opens on a page that appears in the sidebar. All the others are posts that are re-ordered so the latest is at the bottom and not the top. The site was written to be read in chronological order – reading down the sidebar until reaching the latest.
I cannot find anywhere on the Dashboard a place where I can change the total number of posts appearing in the Sidebar. Surely, this is possible. WordPress says there is no limit on the number of posts – but I have certainly run into a limit on the posts I can put on my site.
    Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi! Thanks for sharing the theme name. You’re right that there isn’t a limit on the number of posts you can put on your site as you’re still able to create new posts without any issues.

It seems that the problem might be in the number of posts the sidebar widget is set to display. Could you please follow these steps to see if that is indeed the case?

    1. Go to the Widgets submenu under the Appearance menu in the wp-admin sidebar.
    2. There under the Sidebar region, expand the Recent Posts widget to see the settings.
    3. I believe the number of posts to show has been set to about 100. You should increase this number.
    4. Save your changes and refresh the page.

Let me know if this helps?
