Quick update. I have a second server that is running PHP7. I can get Elementor working just fine on that server. The PHP5.6 server is https, the PHP7 server doesn’t have a security cert (perhaps an issue??). I did delete the plugin from the PHP5.6 server and re-download/activate it. No change, still get the “requires PHP version 5.4+” error.
Hi,
The issue is the php version, make sure it gets updated on that server,
Please read the Elementor requirements here:

Thanks Annie, the requirement doc is a bit confusing. In one paragraph it says they suggest PHP7 and that “older” version may be trouble. In the next paragraph they say 5.4+ will work!
Not really a problem. I won’t be using Elementor for anything but new sites, and they will all be on PHP7 hosts. I have several older clients whose sites use a specific software package that STILL hasn’t been updated for PHP7. That is why I have both setup. When I uploaded my Elementor test/play site I randomly used the PHP5.6 server.
I can’t see any situation where I would use Elementor on those older sites, but being a curious fellow… anyone know if it can run on 5.6?
Hi,
I had a client on a private server with 5.6 and I was unable to edit pages with Elementor until php was upgraded to 7+
Outdated php versions are a no go for me for more then one reason so why try if you are able to upgrade or use php7?
The requirements are from december 2017 so the more outdated 5.4 gets the more it will cause issues I quess 🙂
Annie
Thanks Annie, I will consider this a PHP7+ item!
Cool, have fun with Elementor!
