Can't Access wp-admin After Transferring Domain

I just transferred my domain, http://www.trialofthecentury.net, from WordPress to Bluehost. Under the WordPress dashboard on Bluehost, I set the site url to “trialofthecentury.net,” assuming it would just start routing my page there. However, now when I try and access the wp-admin dashboard, it just takes me back to WordPress.com. There’s simply no way to access the admin page.

To top it off, my website—http://66.147.244.99/~trialoft/—no longer works.

Any suggestions? I’m new at this domain-registar-bla-bla-bla stuff so I’m sure I did something wrong.

Can you elaborate on this. Were you running a wordpress.com site previously? How exactly did you transfer the domain name and when?

I was running a wordpress.com blog; the domain was registered under WordPress. I transferred it as per the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/

In short, it appears that my domain has transferred to Bluehost, but now I’m completely cut out of my admin. It redirects to wordpress.com every time.

This morning. About an hour ago.

Uh-oh…does a domain transfer take a while? Did I just make a public fool of myself?

Yes. Up to 72 hours.

Don’t worry about it. This kind of question crops up all of the time. 🙂

This is great—it’s transferred over! However, I’m having some trouble—my “About” page will not work. When it’s clicked on it goes to a 404. Same with clicking on an individual post; it just goes to 404. Do I have to wait a while for all that stuff to load up, or should I be concerned?

Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting via Settings -> Permalinks. If this works, then review Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.
