Can't access wp-admin
-
I’m prepping a sand-box at a new host for migration and update to WP 3.5.1.
Thinking I was working in the sand-box, I accidentally updated the public site to WP 3.5.1 and fried it. After re-installing 3.2.1 and restoring the wp-includes folder, it works as well as ever for visitors.
The problem now is that when I try to access the admin functions, this error message appears:
“Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_update_data() in /home/heritage/public_html/wp-admin/menu.php on line 34.”
I read menu.php in case it made sense to me [code-clueless]–sorry, it didn’t… What should I do???
Many thanks for your help, Anna

You need to make sure to restore the wp-admin folder as well if you’re going to downgrade.
Something does look very wrong with your site:
“WordPress directory: //http://typeheritage.com/wp-content/plugins/scripts-gzip/gzip.php?css=wp-content%2Fplugins%2Fjquery-hover-footnotes%2Ffootnote-voodoo.css%3Fver%3D3.2.1%2Cwp-content%2Fthemes%2Fsuffusion%2Fstyle.css%3Fver%3D3.8.2%2Cwp-content”

Deactivate all your plugins by renaming (FTP) the plugins folder to old-plugins.
Hi Seacoast Web Design,
Thanks for your input. I had already discovered [the HARD Way!] that a couple of “hover” plugins so important for the original public site don’t work with WP 3.5.1.
Since they are no longer supported, it looks like a tedious, manual cut ‘n’ paste of the data for existing plugins must be applied to new ones [OUCH!].
This will be Another Chore for Another Day, huh?
Thanks again, Anna
Dear [dear!] DJDoubleXL189,
Thanks SO much for your tip! So far, it looks as if restoring the original wp-admin folder did the j-o-b!
You have saved may “bacon,” and I can’t thank you enough for the work you do as a WP trouble-shooting volunteer!!!
Thanks again for your “downgrading” advice, Anna
